South Park Festival time and I envisaged Reckless Love to be opening the main stage performances today. That wasn’t to be.
4th on the second stage, and still outranking their rival Finnish band Santa Cruz for now, they played their usual brand of good time rock ‘n’ roll ala Poison or a clean Mötley Crüe.
So how have they progressed?
Well, they played material from all their previous albums, and as is the norm, Reckless Love never disappoint.
There’s not really much to add to the normal homage that I post about this band. They blasted through their set in their normal enthusiastic way. The big difference between this and their own gigs is of course their sound.
Last year they were second on the main stage. This year they were near the top of the pecking order in the tent. Sound wasn’t great and although a sizable crowd in front of them they didn’t really have that spark.
Highlight for me perhaps was “I love heavy metal” but each song was good on their own merit. I somehow felt they got more caught up in the moment last year when they were warming up the main stage fans…
Still hopeful they get the acclaim they deserve but I feel that they will be eclipsed by Santa Cruz very shortly.
Were you there? What did you think?
