Europe: Let the Good Times Rock

After seeing Europe headline South Park Festival last year anticipation was high for a more intimate gig at The Circus in downtown Helsinki at the end of September.

Needless to say, this was a great gig by a tremendous live band. Promoting their latest release, “War of Kings”, they played 6 tracks from that album but kept the old faithful happy with a good mix from their back catalogue.

Opening with their title track from their promoted album they just rocked their way through 20 tracks (if you include the drum solo) playing songs from Wings of Tomorrow right up until their 10th studio album.

They of course played their classics: Carrie; Rock The Night; Superstitious. The list goes on.

They ended as expected with The Final Countdown. Hard to believe that it is almost 30 years since that was released.

The crowd was fairly lively and definitely got their moneys worth. I was slightly disappointed that they didn’t play more from their previous album: Bag of Bones – but you can’t have it all, it was only slight disappointment & beer made it better!!

Really enjoyed their show. They seem to be another great gigging band. Perhaps a bit like Tesla or Simple Minds. I cannot imagine there would be many shows by them that you would come out saying – “that wasn’t very good”.

Europe: I “praise you” and look forward to seeing you next time.
